DESCRIPTION:Please join us for an impactful webinar in support of the FDA’s 2023 Black Family Cancer Awareness Week: “Engaging the Generations: Genetics\, Genomics\, & Black Families”. \n\nWhen: Wednesday\, June 15\, 2023 \nTime: 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. \nWhere: Online via Zoom (link to register: HTTPS://UNCLCN.ORG/UNCBLACKFAMCAN) \n\nThis virtual event aims to aims to raise awareness about the impact which candid family dialogue can have in helping to better understand and confront cancer risks within Black families and provides vital information to help individuals take steps towards healthier lifestyles and risk reduction. \n\nTogether\, panelists will share how cancer screening\, genetic testing\, and knowing your family’s history play an important role in your health and wellness. We are delighted to invite you this interactive discussion\, “Engaging the Generations: Genetics\, Genomics\, & Black Families”\, partnering experts\, healthcare professionals\, and thought leaders from within Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center’s School of Medicine and CREATE Initiative\, Gillings School of Global Public Health\, and Touch4Life. \n\nSpeakers include: \n\nMarjory Charlot\, MD\, MPH\, MSc\, Thoracic Oncologist at UNC Lineberger\nMya Roberson\, MSPH\, PhD\, Assistant Professor\, Gillings School of Global Public Health\nJoannie M. Ivory\, MD\, MSPH\, Fellow\, Hematology & Oncology\, UNC Lineberger\nLaura Crandon\, Patient Advocate\, Founder\, Touch4Life\n\n\nThey’ll share the facts of genetic and genomic testing and will speak more about how sharing that family history across genders and ages can leave a lasting legacy of health for all generations.
